Porous silicon nanowires for lithium rechargeable batteries.
Porous silicon nanowire is fabricated by a simple electrospinning process combined with a magnesium reduction; this material is investigated for use as an anode material for lithium rechargeable batteries. We find that the porous silicon nanowire electrode from the simple and scalable method can deliver a high reversible capacity with an excellent cycle stability. The enhanced performance in te...
متن کاملCapacity degradation of lithium rechargeable batteries
Li rechargeable cells made with structural arrangement Li/membrane/LixV2O5 were examined under different charge states using ac impedance, environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and the high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). These states include charged, discharged, and over cycled. The lowest internal resistance was obtained from th...
متن کاملReality and Future of Rechargeable Lithium Batteries
Compared to other types of rechargeable batteries, the rechargeable lithium battery has many advantages, such as: higher energy density, lower self-discharge rate, higher voltages and longer cycle life. This article provides an overview of the cathode, anode, electrolyte and separator materials used in rechargeable lithium batteries. The advantages and challenges of various materials used in re...
متن کاملElectrodes with high power and high capacity for rechargeable lithium batteries.
New applications such as hybrid electric vehicles and power backup require rechargeable batteries that combine high energy density with high charge and discharge rate capability. Using ab initio computational modeling, we identified useful strategies to design higher rate battery electrodes and tested them on lithium nickel manganese oxide [Li(Ni(0.5)Mn(0.5))O2], a safe, inexpensive material th...
متن کاملA Bifunctional Organic Redox Catalyst for Rechargeable Lithium–Oxygen Batteries with Enhanced Performances
An organic bifunctional catalyst poly(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyloxy-4-yl methacrylate) (PTMA) has been prepared and coated on carbon surface during electrode preparation. The PTMA has been applied as an efficient bifunctional catalyst for lithium-oxygen batteries with lower overpotentials, enhanced rate performances, and prolonged cycle life.
